Entire bed frame built from large, hand-peeled ASPEN logs & sturdy lumber creating a one-of-a-kind log bed. Each piece is full of character with knots, worm holes, color variations or other characteristic features. High posts on the headboard. Extra rails and rungs in the footboard. Two full log side rails on each side of the bed with rungs inbetween (no metal side rails) for added strength and to keep the rustic look a log bed was meant to have. Rough cut lumber mattress supports to give your mattress the support it needs. Sturdy 100% mortise & tenon construction (including the mattress supports) meaning each log end is tenoned to fit inside a hole drilled in an adjoining log and then bolted together. Built with a solid high quality pine base made with 2" kiln dried lumber* making it very strong and sturdy. Has a beautiful characteristic aspen log stand made to match our other log furniture. *It is a rarity to find log or rustic furniture that is built using kiln-dried lumber. But not only do we build our products using kiln-dried lumber, we build them using RUSTIC kiln-dried lumber. This means that our products have a rough-cut, old time look with color variations and saw marks, yet they are VERY smooth to the touch. Our lumber spends a great deal of time in a kiln in order to stabilize the moisture content within it. Although this is a very expensive and time-consuming process, it ensures the longevity of our furniture by greatly reducing the changes of warping or cracking over time. In addition, kiln-dried lumber will take finish better, last longer and will have much stronger joints.

If furniture is built with lumber that has NOT been kiln-dried, it is a good indication of the builder trying to save money and it is not worth the cost savings.
