Some people prefer the look of dowels covering up the holes, which gives the look of the rail extending through and out the other side of the post. (See picture below.) Dowels are a very attractive add-on. Dowels may not be added to our Hide-a-Bed Trundle or Underbed drawers because they prevent the item from fitting under the bed.

The plugs are very similar to the dowels, however instead of extending out from the post, the plug is built to be semi-flush against the post (they may stick out slightly from the post, but not much).
